Horse racing is one of the most popular sports to bet on. Here are the most common horse racing questions we are asked.

Betting on horses is most definitely legal in the UK & Ireland as well as many other parts of the world, the USA included. The USA in particular is a strange one as they ban betting on poker and casino, yet betting on horse racing is legal.

Horse racing is the second largest spectator sport in the UK and generates yearly revenue in excess of £3bn for the British economy.

If you find a good betting partner like Paddy Power above you will get your money back on scratched horses.

Yes you can. Most reputable betting sites offer excellent mobile betting platforms which includes betting on horse racing. This is a great way to compare track odds to online odds too.

The major bookmakers all have very competitive odds and typically will match better odds given by another major betting site. You should however look for special horse racing promotions which could put more value in your bets.

Horse racing is of course known as the “Sport of Kings” and records indicate it first occurred in ancient Greece, Syria, Babylon and Egypt. Records show that mounted horse and chariot racing events were held in the ancient Greek Olympics in 648BC.

Horse racing was given the title “Sport of Kings” as Thoroughbred racing was popular with aristocrats and British royalty.

Today it is estimated that horse racing is a $150 billion plus market worldwide. Horse racing is for example the second most popular spectator sport in the UK.

Premier League Golden Boot Favourites

Premier League Golden Boot

Premier League Golden BootGolden Boot Odds & Favourites

Ask football fans who they are backing to win the Premier League Golden Boot award and the name Sergio Aguero will be named on most occasions. However, there are a number of other players who are in fine goal-scoring form.

It is interesting to note that the Golden Boot winner has not come from a club that won the Premier League in the last five years. Here are the bookies favourites and the best available Golden Boot odds for each goalscorer.

Diego Costa Golden Boot Favourite

William Hill

1. Diego Costa 9/2

The Spaniard has been in immense goal-scoring form this season and he looked set to run away with the golden boot award before the recent falir up with manager Antonio Conte. He is no longer the bookies favourite but if he and Conte make peace and he stays at the club expect him to continue most games and he is the firm favourite to come away with the golden boot at the end of the season.

Already it has been Costa who has bailed Chelsea out of some dangerous situations with some late winners and if it weren’t for him, Chelsea could well have been stuttering around mid-table again. Thanks to him Chelsea are now riding high at the top of the table.

Sergio Aguero Golden Boot Odds

2. Sergio Aguero 9/2

The Argentine hasn’t had the best of seasons so far. He has already missed too many games through suspension and he hasn’t managed to hit the heights he has reached in previous seasons.

One thing that could cost him and his team dearly though is his lack of discipline shown so far this season. Nevertheless, once Aguero returns from his ban, expect him to start scoring freely once more.

Alexis Sanchez Odds

3. Alexis Sanchez 7/1

The Chilean has racked up a good number of goals for Arsenal this season and is thriving in his new center-forward position. Arsene Wenger decided to employ his pacy star up front at the beginning of the season due to the fact that he had nobody else to play there. Olivier Giroud was given an extended break after the Euros while Theo Walcott insisted he preferred playing out wide.

Giroud has now got his place in the starting lineup back and there seems to be a bit of negativity from Sanchez. He is still scoring in most games but doesn’t look happy. Perhaps he is tired of constantly bailing the Gunners out of difficult situations and there are rumours that he could be on his way out of the club in the summer.

No matter what happens Sanchez always gives his best and he will be right up there with the leading scorers.

Harry Kane Top Goalscorer Odds

4. Harry Kane 3/1

The Englishman is now on fire and can’t stop scoring. He missed a large chunk of the season through injury but when he returned he scored straight away with a crucial goal against Arsenal. After securing the Golden Boot and having played a major role in Tottenham’s third-place finish last season; Kane then went through a bad patch with England during the Euros. At the start of this season he still looked a bit rusty and then picked up an injury.

Kane is now on a decent run and he will score a lot more goals this season as Tottenham look to clinch a top four spot yet again.

Tottenham are looking great as things stand and Kane is leading the line in an exceptional way. Carry on like this and he is likely to win the golden boot for the second time running.

zlatan ibrahimovic golden boot odds

William Hill

5. Zlatan Ibrahimovich 13/5

The Red Devils’ new signing was expected to score a lot and he got off to a phenomenal start. He scored on the opening day against Bournemouth and then scored a double against Southampton a week later. It looked as if the big Swede was going to destroy every defence he came up against but after that he went through a barren spell.

In recent weeks, however, Ibrahimovich has been finding the back of the net again and his goals are helping United climb up the table. He will be instrumental in firing Manchester United into the top four this season and he seems to have found his goal-scoring touch once again. He is therefore likely to challenge Aguero and Costa all the way for the Golden Boot.

Last 10 Golden Boot Winners

The last 10 Premier League Golden Boot winners are listed below. As you can see Man Utd has had the most success over the last 10 seasons with players from the club winning the title on three occasions.

Season Winner Team Goals
2015–16 Harry Kane Tottenham Hotspur 25
2014–15 Sergio Agüero Manchester City 26
2013–14 Luis Suárez Liverpool 31
2012–13 Robin van Persie Manchester United 26
2011–12 Robin van Persie Arsenal 30
2010–11 Tevez & Berbatov Man City & Man United 20
2010–11 Dimitar Berbatov Manchester United 20
2009–10 Didier Drogba Chelsea 29
2008–09 Nicolas Anelka Chelsea 19
2007–08 Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United 31
2006–07 Didier Drogba Chelsea 20

Premier League Golden Boot History

The Golden Boot is awarded to the player with the most goals in a Premier League Season. Typically the player that wins is also awarded with £1,000 per goal scored, which they can donate to a charity of their choice. This would make Thierry Henry the most charitable Golden Boot winner of all time as he has won the trophy an astonishing four times, more than anyone else.

Alan Shearer is in second place having won it three times, twice with Blackburn Rovers and then with Newcastle United, an impressive feat considering he did it in consecutive seasons, as did Henry with Arsenal of course.

Andy Cole and Alan Shearer are the leading goal scorers in a Premier League season with 34, a record that has stood since the 1993-94 season and almost reached by Ronaldo and Suarez in 2007-08 and 2013-14. Both fell short of the mark and ended their seasons on 31 goals.

English Championship Trophy

Championship Promotion

England Championship TrophyChampionship Promotion Odds

The English Championship is well and truly underway and teams are giving it their all to break into next season’s Premier League. While some teams are full of top players, other less fancied teams are having a real go at it this season. Here is a look at who the bookies are backing to make it into the premier league next season and their Championship Promotion Odds.

Newcastle United Championship Promotion Favourites

William Hill

1. Newcastle United 1/20

The Magpies were absolutely devastated to drop down into the Championship at the end of last season. For such a huge club their fans expected better and this season under the leadership of Rafael Benitez they are really on a role. They are predicted to jump straight back into the premier league next season and with all the talent in their squad this comes as no surprise. Strikers Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle are proving a handful for defences while the rest of the squad is full of players with premier league experience.

The Championship is a long season but Newcastle will really have to be their own worst enemies if they are to fail in their promotion bid this season. It’s almost safe to say they will be back next season in the Premier League.

Brighton & Hove Albion

2. Brighton & Hove Albion 1/18

In last season’s Championship campaign they finished in third position but ultimately failed to reach the Premier League due to a loss in their playoff game. They do have a top manager leading them in Chris Hughton and their fans will be confident of having another crack at promotion this season. They currently look likely to accompany Newcastle into next season’s premier league.

Glenn Murray is proving to be a top striker for them and has been instrumental in pushing them up the table. They are a good bet to make it up to England’s top flight this season.

Norwich Championship Promotion Odds

3. Derby 4/1

The Rams are looking good at the moment but it is still too early to say whether they have what it takes to make into England’s top flight. They will more than likely have to do it through the Playoffs but they have the squad to get them there.

They are going through a good patch of form and have moved up the table where they will hope to remain come the end of the season. Their defence has been one of their main strengths so far this season and they haven’t conceded too many goals.

A long way still to go but their fans will be confident of going up.

Sheffield Wednesday Promotion Odds

4. Sheffield Wednesday 9/2

The Owls are fighting for a place in the Playoffs from where they can have a real go at making it into the Premier League. Last season they finished in sixth position and are looking good to challenge all the way again this season. They are managed by Carlos Carvalhal who has managed more than ten clubs and thus has a wealth of experience.

Wednesday have the players to make it out of the Championship but whether they have the mental strength to deliver when the pressure is on will be the deciding factor come the season end.

Reading Promotion Odds

William Hill

5. Reading 9/2

This is a club that have shown in the past that they are able to compete with some of England’s top teams and they will be keen to gain promotion and show everyone what they are capable of. They are currently under the leadership of former Dutch and Manchester United defender Jaap Stam.

The Royals had a miserable season last year where they almost dropped out of the Championship, ending up in 17th spot. Things have changed for the better so far this season though and they are pushing for an eventual spot in the playoffs.

English Championship Last 10 Winners

Below are the teams promoted from the Championship to the Premier League over the last ten seasons. It’s interesting to note that Burnley have gone up and down the most in recent history, with three promotions in the last 10 seasons.

Season Champions Runner-up Play-off Winner
2015–16 Burnley Middlesbrough Hull City
2014–15 Bournemouth Watford Norwich City
2013–14 Leicester City Burnley Queens Park Rangers
2012–13 Cardiff City Hull City Crystal Palace
2011–12 Reading Southampton West Ham United
2010–11 Queens Park Rangers Norwich City Swansea City
2009–10 Newcastle United West Bromwich Blackpool
2008–09 Wolverhampton Birmingham City Burnley
2007–08 West Bromwich Stoke City Hull City
2006–07 Sunderland Birmingham City Derby County

EFL Points of Interest

The English Football League Championship, or Championship as it is more often referred to, is the wealthiest non-top flight football division in the world and the seventh richest in Europe and is the most-watched secondary league worldwide.

Unlike the Premier League, the Championship comprises of 24 teams and the top two teams automatically receive Premier League promotion, along with the winners of Championship play-offs, which features teams ranked three to six in the league.

This year Newcastle are the clear Championship Promotion Odds on favourites with Rafa Benitex looking to get them back into the Premier League after just one year in the EFL.

Serie A TrophySerie A Betting Odds

In recent seasons the Serie A has been absolutely dominated by Juventus. In fact, they have won the title for the last five seasons making them unstoppable. This season is well and truly underway and things are looking close at the top of the table with the likes of AC Milan and Roma desperately trying to topple the Italian giants. Here is a closer look at the latest Serie A betting odds.

Juventus Serie A Favourites

William Hill

1. Juventus 1/7

It comes as no surprise that they are huge favourites to make it six titles in a row. Just looking at their squad shows the immense experience and talent that they possess and why it has become seemingly impossible for other teams to match them. In goal they have Gianluigi Buffon who is still going strong at 38-years-of-age while in defence the partnership of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci is one of the strongest in world football. The signing of Gonzalo Higuain in the summer strengthened them immensely and made up for the loss of their star midfielder, Paul Pogba.

For The Old Lady things are looking perfect in their league and while they are still struggling to match the best in Europe, they are massive favourites to make it an incredible six league titles in a row.

AS Roma Odds

2. AS Roma 15/2

They are pushing Juventus hard this season and their fans will be desperate to keep up with the leaders right until the end of the season; where hopefully they will see their team break the champions winning streak. Roma failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League and will be hoping to give everything in this season’s Serie A. The last time Roma conquered the Serie A was way back in the 2000/01 season and their supporters will feel they are long overdue to win it again.

The legendary Francesco Totti has been ever loyal to his club and even at 40-years-old still has something to offer. Apart from him the club has Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko as two of their top forwards. Dzeko has scored plenty of goals already this season and will be a serious contender for the golden boot award.  It’s going to be a long season for Roma but they have started off well and are in with a chance of going all the way.

AC Milan Title Odds

3. AC Milan 16/1

One of the most supported clubs in the world but not the force they once used to be in the Serie A. The last time they won the league was in the 2010/11 season when they had some of the greatest players in the world including Ibrahimovic, Nesta, Inzaghi and Ronaldinho.

Their current squad is arguably missing players of the highest standard now and they are finding it increasingly more difficult to match Juventus in the Serie A. They still rely heavily on an ageing Andrea Pirlo while Carlos Bacca is a major threat up front and scoring freely for Milan. They would love to compete with Juventus but times have changed and there is a lot to be done in order for Milan to reach the heights that Juventus are currently at.

Napoli Title Odds

4. Napoli 16/1

Another team that goes through patches of brilliance but ultimately shows too much inconsistency. They lost arguably their best player in forward Gonzalo Higuain in the summer when he made the move across to Juventus. They still possess a strong squad including well known internationals such as Lorenzo Insigne, Marek Hamsik and Polish forward Arkadiusz Milik.

For Napoli though they haven’t got off to the best of starts this season and it’s going to take a remarkable turnaround if they are to challenge for the Serie A title.

Reading Promotion Odds

William Hill

5. Inter Milan 60/1

Who would have thought the mighty Inter Milan would be given such low odds to win the Serie A? Inter dominated the Serie A from 2005 until 2010 winning five league titles in a row but since then have failed to win the league again. They got off to a horrendous start to the season and have already sacked Dutch manager Frank De Boer. New manager Stefano Pioli has vowed to make Inter great again but it may be too late to challenge this season.

Inter are well off the pace and despite Mauro Icardi firing in the goals, they haven’t been very sound in defence. Perhaps next season we will see a stronger Inter side but for now their chances of winning the league this season are slim.

Last 10 Serie A Winners

Over the last ten seasons only three teams have won the Serie A league. Juventus are currently on a five season win streak and before them AC Milan took the honours, after Inter Milan had a five season win streak of their own. Never bet against the roll as gamblers often say, which may mean Juventus will continue to lead the Serie A betting odds for at least another season.

Season Winner Runners-up Third Place

Serie A Quick Facts

No team has dominated the Serie A like Juventus, who have won the league a magnificent 32 times. That’s an absolutely astounding achievement with both Milan clubs tied for a distant second on 18 titles a piece.

The Serie A has existed in Italy since 1898 in one form or the other, making it one of the most historical and prestigious tournaments in football. The great Silvio Piola is the leading goalscorer in Serie A history with a mammoth 274 goals over his 25 year career. Francesco Totti is still active however and only trails by 24 goals, on a massive 250 goals of his own.

Bundesliga TrophyBundesliga Betting Odds

The 2016/17 Bundesliga season isn’t proving to be all Bayern Munich, as it has been in recent seasons. Things are a lot closer at the top and here are the latest odds for the next Bundesliga champion.

Bayern Munich

William Hill

1. Bayern Munich 1/7

The German giants are once again massive favourites to walk away with another Bundesliga Title. They have been crowned champions for the last four seasons and are eager to make it a stunning five in a row. They have by far the strongest squad in German football. Up front Robert Lewandowski is always going to score a huge amount of goals while in midfield they have some of the best players in world football including Arjen Robben, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara.

Bayern have been challenged so far this season and haven’t had it all their own way. They were beaten by their major rivals Borussia Dortmund who seem to be the one team capable of challenging them every time they meet.  There is still a long way to go this season but with their exceptional squad they will most likely prove too strong once again.

RB Leipzig Bundesliga Odds

2. RB Leipzig 6/1

A team that most people outside of Germany haven’t even heard of but are currently putting on a strong showing this season and now they have even overtaken Borussia Dortmund as second favourites for the Bundesliga title. The club only came into existence in 2009 when it was started by the Red Bull company. They then made a remarkable climb from the fifth division of German football all the way to the Bundesliga where in this, their first season, they are keeping pace with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

They started off with a fan base of just over 2,000 but now they have a following of more than 30,000 supporters. It would go down as one of the greatest sporting achievements if they went on to win the Bundesliga and their players are really giving it a go. Perhaps a sneaky punt on them could be worthwhile as they look to do what Leicester City did in last season’s English Premier League.

Borussia Dortmund Title Odds

3. Borussia Dortmund 12/1

Many people around the world favour Dortmund due to their exciting brand of football and ability to keep up with high-flying Bayern Munich. They last won the Bundesliga back in the 2010/11 season and will give everything to challenge for it this time round. Their key man is undoubtedly Gambian forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. His ability to run at defenders and score brilliant solo goals has helped his team keep up with Bayern. Mario Gotze is also enjoying his time back at the club after making the move back to the Westfalenstadion.

Manager Thomas Tuchel will want to keep up his team’s aggressive, attacking style of play with plenty of goals for their fans to enjoy. Dortmund have been blowing teams away in the UEFA Champions League but haven’t be as good in the Bundesliga so far. At these odds though it would make for a nice payout and they have the players to go on a great run.

Schalke 04 Europa Odds

4. Schalke 04 200/1

Schalke have made a mediocre start to this season’s campaign and nobody is expecting them to challenge for the Bundesliga title this season. It would come as a massive shock if they were to defy the odds and go all the way. They do have some highly talented individuals in their squad though and will be hoping that at the very least they can finish in the top four.

Two players that they have taken on loan for the season, Navil Bentaleb from Tottenham, and Yevhen Konoplyanka from Sevilla, are top players and will definitely give the rest of the squad and their supporters a lift. Anything can happen in football but Schalke just don’t have the mighty squad that the likes of Bayern and Dortmund have to compete all season long.

borussia monchengladbach title odds

William Hill

5. Borussia Monchengladbach 250/1

They finished fourth in last season’s campaign and will do well to better that finish this time round. Under the management of Andre Schubert, they have to give everything if they are to compete with Bayern, Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

They are unable though to compete for big signings with the other top German clubs and have to rely on every player working extra hard. They may finish in the top four once again this season but it’s hard seeing them challenging in the race for Bundesliga glory.

Inter are well off the pace and despite Mauro Icardi firing in the goals, they haven’t been very sound in defence. Perhaps next season we will see a stronger Inter side but for now their chances of winning the league this season are slim.

Last 10 Bundesliga Winners

It’s plain to see from the results below who the dominant force in Bundesliga football is. Bayern Munich has won the title for the last four seasons but the race is hotter this year with Leipzig hot on their trail, perhaps Red Bull does give you wings after all.

Season Champion Runner-up Top Goalscorer
2015–16 Bayern Munich Borussia Dortmund Robert Lewandowski
2014–15 Bayern Munich VfL Wolfsburg Alexander Meier

2011–12 Borussia Dortmund Bayern Munich Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Bundesliga History

No team has dominated the Bundesliga like Bayern Munich, it’s not even close. Bayern Munich sit atop the all time winners list with an incredible 26 victories, the next closest is on 9, and it’s not Dortmund, they are in third on 8, it’s FC Nurnberg.

The Bundesliga Betting odds will be updated all season long, together with any news that becomes available that may affect the table.

Serie A Golden Boot Odds

Serie A Golden Boot

Serie A Golden Boot OddsSerie A Golden Boot Favourites

The Italian Serie A is home to some of the top strikers in the world which makes for some highly entertaining football. A number of brilliant goals have already been scored this season and some forwards are racking up the goals as they try their best to lead their team to glory.

Gonzalo Higuain Golden Boot Odds

William Hill

1.Gonzalo Higuain 15/8

The Argentine made the move from Napoli to Juventus in the summer and he is proving to be worth all the money Juve spent on him. With his wealth of experience and ability to take control of a game when needed most, he is definitely up there with the top strikers in the world. He is the bookies favourite to walk away with this season’s Serie A golden boot and it comes as little surprise.

He is playing up front with a top Juventus team and is getting tremendous service from midfield. At the moment Juventus are on another level and will score plenty of goals this season. Higuain will be looking to cash in on the good service and rack up his goal tally this season.

Mauro Icardi Golden Boot Odds

2. Mauro Icardi 11/4

Argentina sure are producing some fine strikers as Icardi and Higuain are tearing up the Serie A. He has been inspirational for an Inter Milan side that has been well below par this season. Inter started off under the leadership of Dutch manager Frank De Boer but the team failed to get going despite Icardi scoring many goals. Now, with De Boer gone, Inter will look adopt a new approach which will hopefully see them fair a lot better.

Icardi is one of the top talents in world football and has plenty to prove. A host of clubs are reportedly interested in signing him and he will want to keep scoring to enhance his chances of a move to the likes of Madrid or Barcelona. Will he be able to outscore Higuain? If Inter start finding some rhythm he will be right up there challenging come the end of the season.

Edin Dzeko Top Goalscorer Odds

3. Edin Dzeko 3/1

The former Manchester City forward is enjoying his time with Roma and is currently their top scorer in the league. His game seems well suited to the Italian style of football and he is linking up well with a formidable Roma midfield. Roma are pushing Juventus to try end the reign of the Old Lady but it’s going to be a tough task and Roma are relying on Dzeko to keep finding the back of the net. Dzeko will play most games and at 3/1 could be a decent shout.

Ciro Immobile Golden Boot Odds

4. Ciro Immobile 9/2

The Lazio striker only joined the club this season but has already been in fine goal-scoring form. At 26-years-of-age Immobile has already played for a number of top clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla but has failed to settle at a club. Now is the time for the Italian to start showing what he can do on a consistent basis. Playing for a Lazio team that on their day can trouble anybody, Immobile will score quite a few this season but will likely come up just short of the Golden Boot award.

Carlos Bacca Golden Boot Odds

William Hill

5. Carlos Bacca 9/1

The Colombian is a proven goal-scorer and has been a top signing by AC Milan. Bacca had an exceptional career with Sevilla where he scored 34 goals in 72 appearances. At 30-years-of-age, Bacca will feel that now is the time for him to really light up his career and playing at AC Milan, one of the world’s most glamorous teams, he will be up for the challenge.

Since arriving at the club last year he has produced a brilliant goal-scoring record and if AC manages to perform throughout the season, he could be an excellent dark horse for the golden boot award.

Europa League Odds

Europa League

Europa League TrophyEuropa League Favourites

While the Europa League doesn’t draw as much excitement from fans as the Champions League does, there are still some top teams competing in the competition. The most successful club when it comes to Europa League titles is Sevilla. The Spanish outfit has won the competition on five occasions and incredibly they have won it for the last three years running. Let’s take a look at who Paddy Power are backing to win it this year.

Manchester United Europa League Odds

William Hill

1.Manchester United 5/1

Jose Mourinho’s new team is currently the bookies favourite to lift the trophy come May next year. Although the Red Devils haven’t got off to the best of starts this season, it comes as little surprise that they are being backed to win the Europa League. With a squad featuring a number of high profile players, one would expect them to canter through to the semi-finals at least.

Mourinho will want to win it in his first season at United and he will definitely go all out to win; even if it isn’t Europe’s top competition. To make this even more important for the club is the fact that they more than likely have blown their chances of winning the Premier League so will see the Europa League as a must win.

AS Roma Odds

2. Roma 17/2

The Italians could well have been competing in the Champions League this season but fell at the final qualifying hurdle to Porto. Now they have to set their sights on going all the way in the Europa League and they will feel that they have the squad to challenge anyone they face. They have a strong looking squad featuring top international players such as Daniele De Rossi, Stephan El Shaarawy and Kevin Stootman.

Roma are looking dangerous so far in the Serie A and the Europa League and they will want to keep building up confidence as the season wears on. A really decent bet they may be.

Schalke 04 Europa Odds

3. Schalke 04 12/1

This is a German club that doesn’t make as many headlines as Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund do but can still play some top football. They were winners of the UEFA Cup in the 1996/97 season and what better way to celebrate that anniversary than by winning it again 20 years later. So far they have made a very promising start to this season’s campaign and they have definitely sent out a strong message that they are contenders for the title.

Shakhtar Donetsk Europa League Odds

4. Shakhtar Donetsk 12/1

The Ukrainians won the Europa League back in the 2008/09 season. In recent years the battle for top spot in Ukraine has been between themselves and Dynamo Kiev. While they lost out on top spot in the league for the last two seasons, they will be eager to go all the way in the Europa League to restore some pride.

Up front they have former Arsenal forward Eduardo while Croatian defender Darijo Srna offers lots of experience. They are far from favourites but definitely capable of surprising a few.

Zenit Saint Petersburg Europa League Odds

William Hill

5. Zenit St Petersburg 14/1

They won the UEFA Cup, as it was known back then, in 2007/08 and their fans will be desperate to see them do it again this season. Mention the name Zenit and people don’t immediately regard them as a threat but they have some more than useful players.

Up front they rely on Aleksandr Kokorin and Artem Dzyuba while in midfield their Belgian star Axel Witsel plays a vital role. Russian teams are always strong at home and most teams will not fancy playing a knockout game there. Definitely not everyone’s favourite but nevertheless a team to look out for.

La Liga Champions Odds

La Liga Champions

La Liga Champions OddsLa Liga Favourites

Spain’s La Liga has for the most part been about two teams; Barcelona and Real Madrid. They are the kings of Spanish football and are arguably the two greatest current club teams in the world. Madrid have won 32 La Liga titles while Barcelona are not that far behind with 24.

Atletico Madrid are the only team that seem capable of matching them at the moment but they have only won the league once in recent times, back in 2014. In only 3 out of the last 16 seasons the title hasn’t gone to Madrid or Barca. In saying all that, Leicester City showed that miracles in football can happen and perhaps an unlikely Spanish side could go all the way.

Barcelona Odds

William Hill

1. Barcelona 8/11

Barca are the current favourites for the title. Winning the league this season would give them their third championship in a row. Everybody knows the danger posed by the Messi, Suarez and Neymar trio but there are a number of others playing top football this season. Rafinha is one of them. The Brazilian attacking midfielder has scored some vital goals this season and is proving to be very influential.

Manager Luis Enrique has a massive squad full of some of the world’s top players and even when injuries strike, the team is still capable of beating any opposition. This season they have been without a number of first team players including Andres Iniesta, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique but are still clocking up the wins.

Barcelona fans will know that their team is in for a long season as they vie for top spot with Real Madrid but with the firepower they possess, they are a great bet to win the title yet again.

Real Madrid La Liga Odds

2. Real Madrid 7/4

Madrid are never far off when it comes to winning trophies and they are desperate to get the La Liga title back from their rivals. After going through a patch of poor form during the early stages of the season they are now well back on track and the goals are starting to flow once more. Ronaldo appears to be firing on all cylinders now and when he is in the mood he can singlehandedly win games for Madrid.

Alvaro Morata’s return to the club had some skeptical at first but he seems to be fitting in nicely and provides Madrid with a different attacking approach.

Zinedine Zidane has some work ahead of him if he is to win his first La Liga title as a manager but he has the squad to pull it off. At odds of 7/4 there is plenty to be optimistic about as they have a fantastic chance of once again reigning in Spain.

Roma are looking dangerous so far in the Serie A and the Europa League and they will want to keep building up confidence as the season wears on. A really decent bet they may be.

Atletico Madrid Odds

3. Atletico Madrid 11/2

Diego Simeone has done one fine job with this team and they are now renowned as one of the strongest teams in European football. For the last four seasons they have finished no lower than third and won the league in the 2013/14 season.

Up front they have Antoine Griezmann who is now considered one of the top strikers in world football. Yannick Carrasco and Koke are also world class players who the team rely on to keep them up with the likes of Real and Barca.

If anyone is going to beat the two top dogs then Atletico are sure favourites and they will be confident of sticking with them in the title race throughout the season. Can Simeone once again pull off some magic? These are great odds which may be worth having a sneaky punt on.

Sevilla La Liga Odds

4. Sevilla 100/1

After the top three there is a massive gulf in class as reflected by the odds. Sevilla have consistently done well in Europe but are they capable of beating the best in Spain to become champions once again? The one and only time they won the Spanish league was in the 1945/46 season so to say they are desperate to win it again would be an understatement.

Unfortunately for them they are unable to compete with the bigger clubs in the transfer market and more often than not have to settle for lesser known players. If anyone was brave enough to put some money on Sevilla defying all the odds and becoming champions they would receive an insane payout from the bookies.
