The English Championship is well and truly underway and teams are giving it their all to break into next season’s Premier League. While some teams are full of top players, other less fancied teams are having a real go at it this season. Here is a look at who the bookies are backing to make it into the premier league next season and their Championship Promotion Odds.

Newcastle United Championship Promotion Favourites

William Hill

1. Newcastle United 1/20

The Magpies were absolutely devastated to drop down into the Championship at the end of last season. For such a huge club their fans expected better and this season under the leadership of Rafael Benitez they are really on a role. They are predicted to jump straight back into the premier league next season and with all the talent in their squad this comes as no surprise. Strikers Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle are proving a handful for defences while the rest of the squad is full of players with premier league experience.

The Championship is a long season but Newcastle will really have to be their own worst enemies if they are to fail in their promotion bid this season. It’s almost safe to say they will be back next season in the Premier League.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Ladbrokes

2. Brighton & Hove Albion 1/18

In last season’s Championship campaign they finished in third position but ultimately failed to reach the Premier League due to a loss in their playoff game. They do have a top manager leading them in Chris Hughton and their fans will be confident of having another crack at promotion this season. They currently look likely to accompany Newcastle into next season’s premier league.

Glenn Murray is proving to be a top striker for them and has been instrumental in pushing them up the table. They are a good bet to make it up to England’s top flight this season.

3. Derby 4/1

The Rams are looking good at the moment but it is still too early to say whether they have what it takes to make into England’s top flight. They will more than likely have to do it through the Playoffs but they have the squad to get them there.

They are going through a good patch of form and have moved up the table where they will hope to remain come the end of the season. Their defence has been one of their main strengths so far this season and they haven’t conceded too many goals.

A long way still to go but their fans will be confident of going up.

Sheffield Wednesday Promotion Odds

BetVictor

4. Sheffield Wednesday 9/2

The Owls are fighting for a place in the Playoffs from where they can have a real go at making it into the Premier League. Last season they finished in sixth position and are looking good to challenge all the way again this season. They are managed by Carlos Carvalhal who has managed more than ten clubs and thus has a wealth of experience.

Wednesday have the players to make it out of the Championship but whether they have the mental strength to deliver when the pressure is on will be the deciding factor come the season end.

Reading Promotion Odds

William Hill

5. Reading 9/2

This is a club that have shown in the past that they are able to compete with some of England’s top teams and they will be keen to gain promotion and show everyone what they are capable of. They are currently under the leadership of former Dutch and Manchester United defender Jaap Stam.

The Royals had a miserable season last year where they almost dropped out of the Championship, ending up in 17th spot. Things have changed for the better so far this season though and they are pushing for an eventual spot in the playoffs.
