Golden Boot Odds & Favourites
Ask football fans who they are backing to win the Premier League Golden Boot award and the name Sergio Aguero will be named on most occasions. However, there are a number of other players who are in fine goal-scoring form.
It is interesting to note that the Golden Boot winner has not come from a club that won the Premier League in the last five years. Here are the bookies favourites and the best available Golden Boot odds for each goalscorer.
1. Diego Costa 9/2
The Spaniard has been in immense goal-scoring form this season and he looked set to run away with the golden boot award before the recent falir up with manager Antonio Conte. He is no longer the bookies favourite but if he and Conte make peace and he stays at the club expect him to continue scoring.in most games and he is the firm favourite to come away with the golden boot at the end of the season.
Already it has been Costa who has bailed Chelsea out of some dangerous situations with some late winners and if it weren’t for him, Chelsea could well have been stuttering around mid-table again. Thanks to him Chelsea are now riding high at the top of the table.
2. Sergio Aguero 9/2
The Argentine hasn’t had the best of seasons so far. He has already missed too many games through suspension and he hasn’t managed to hit the heights he has reached in previous seasons.
One thing that could cost him and his team dearly though is his lack of discipline shown so far this season. Nevertheless, once Aguero returns from his ban, expect him to start scoring freely once more.
3. Alexis Sanchez 7/1
The Chilean has racked up a good number of goals for Arsenal this season and is thriving in his new center-forward position. Arsene Wenger decided to employ his pacy star up front at the beginning of the season due to the fact that he had nobody else to play there. Olivier Giroud was given an extended break after the Euros while Theo Walcott insisted he preferred playing out wide.
Giroud has now got his place in the starting lineup back and there seems to be a bit of negativity from Sanchez. He is still scoring in most games but doesn’t look happy. Perhaps he is tired of constantly bailing the Gunners out of difficult situations and there are rumours that he could be on his way out of the club in the summer.
No matter what happens Sanchez always gives his best and he will be right up there with the leading scorers.
4. Harry Kane 3/1
The Englishman is now on fire and can’t stop scoring. He missed a large chunk of the season through injury but when he returned he scored straight away with a crucial goal against Arsenal. After securing the Golden Boot and having played a major role in Tottenham’s third-place finish last season; Kane then went through a bad patch with England during the Euros. At the start of this season he still looked a bit rusty and then picked up an injury.
Kane is now on a decent run and he will score a lot more goals this season as Tottenham look to clinch a top four spot yet again.
Tottenham are looking great as things stand and Kane is leading the line in an exceptional way. Carry on like this and he is likely to win the golden boot for the second time running.
5. Zlatan Ibrahimovich 13/5
The Red Devils’ new signing was expected to score a lot and he got off to a phenomenal start. He scored on the opening day against Bournemouth and then scored a double against Southampton a week later. It looked as if the big Swede was going to destroy every defence he came up against but after that he went through a barren spell.
In recent weeks, however, Ibrahimovich has been finding the back of the net again and his goals are helping United climb up the table. He will be instrumental in firing Manchester United into the top four this season and he seems to have found his goal-scoring touch once again. He is therefore likely to challenge Aguero and Costa all the way for the Golden Boot.

Premier League Golden Boot History
The Golden Boot is awarded to the player with the most goals in a Premier League Season. Typically the player that wins is also awarded with £1,000 per goal scored, which they can donate to a charity of their choice. This would make Thierry Henry the most charitable Golden Boot winner of all time as he has won the trophy an astonishing four times, more than anyone else.
Alan Shearer is in second place having won it three times, twice with Blackburn Rovers and then with Newcastle United, an impressive feat considering he did it in consecutive seasons, as did Henry with Arsenal of course.
Andy Cole and Alan Shearer are the leading goal scorers in a Premier League season with 34, a record that has stood since the 1993-94 season and almost reached by Ronaldo and Suarez in 2007-08 and 2013-14. Both fell short of the mark and ended their seasons on 31 goals.
