Rugby Sevens Betting
The race for the 2016/17 Sevens World rugby championship is well underway with two rounds already having been completed. In the first round which took place in Dubai; South Africa came away as victors with a comfortable win over Fiji in the final. In the second round of the World Sevens circuit which was played in South Africa; England came away as the winners after a thrilling victory over South Africa in the final. As it now stands after two rounds, South Africa lead the way with 41 points while England are hot on their heels with 39 points.
There are still eight rounds to go and teams will travel to various destinations around the world including Wellington, Hong Kong and Paris before the final round which takes place in London. Here are the latest Rugby Sevens Betting Odds for the outright winner of the 2016/17 World Rugby Sevens Series:
1. South Africa 7/5
The South African team is full of pace which is arguably the most important factor to having a successful sevens rugby side. They are now the betting favourites to go all the way. So far in this season’s competition they have shown complete dominance and just came up short against England in their second successive final in Cape Town.
The team is now laden with experienced players and are no longer afraid of taking on Sevens heavyweights such as Fiji and New Zealand. The South Africans are looking extremely strong and are definitely a good bet to go on and lift the major prize in London at the end of the Series.
2. Fiji 11/5
They may not be all that in the fifteen a side version of the game but when it comes to sevens Fiji are always there or thereabouts come the business end of the campaign. The size of their players is something to behold but the pace and trickery that they show is what makes them one of the most entertaining teams to watch. They are perhaps the only team that can work their way out of tight corners to run the length of the field and score crucial tries and their willingness to take chances has seen them be rewarded more often than not. They will definitely run the South African side all the way in the race for glory.
3. England 7/2
They have recently become one of the leading Rugby Sevens Nations after years of living in the shadows of the Southern Hemisphere Nations. They now have a squad that can take on anyone and even in unfamiliar conditions they are able to turn on the style.
Winning against the South Africans who were in front of their home fans would have done wonders for the confidence of the English players and they will now feel that they can seriously challenge for the Grand Final top place. They are a really decent shout to become champions in London come April.
4. New Zealand 5/1
This is a team that you can never write off and despite them making a relatively slow start to the 2016/17 campaign, you can be sure that they will find form sooner rather than later. The trio of Ricky Khan, DJ Forbes and Tim Mikkelson have a wealth of experience between them and they are amongst their leading points scorers.
With the next round taking place on New Zealand soil they will be eager to win the round and up their points tally as they look to close in on South Africa and England. As always, New Zealand are a good bet.
