Bundesliga Betting Odds
The 2016/17 Bundesliga season isn’t proving to be all Bayern Munich, as it has been in recent seasons. Things are a lot closer at the top and here are the latest odds for the next Bundesliga champion.
1. Bayern Munich 1/7
The German giants are once again massive favourites to walk away with another Bundesliga Title. They have been crowned champions for the last four seasons and are eager to make it a stunning five in a row. They have by far the strongest squad in German football. Up front Robert Lewandowski is always going to score a huge amount of goals while in midfield they have some of the best players in world football including Arjen Robben, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara.
Bayern have been challenged so far this season and haven’t had it all their own way. They were beaten by their major rivals Borussia Dortmund who seem to be the one team capable of challenging them every time they meet. There is still a long way to go this season but with their exceptional squad they will most likely prove too strong once again.
2. RB Leipzig 6/1
A team that most people outside of Germany haven’t even heard of but are currently putting on a strong showing this season and now they have even overtaken Borussia Dortmund as second favourites for the Bundesliga title. The club only came into existence in 2009 when it was started by the Red Bull company. They then made a remarkable climb from the fifth division of German football all the way to the Bundesliga where in this, their first season, they are keeping pace with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
They started off with a fan base of just over 2,000 but now they have a following of more than 30,000 supporters. It would go down as one of the greatest sporting achievements if they went on to win the Bundesliga and their players are really giving it a go. Perhaps a sneaky punt on them could be worthwhile as they look to do what Leicester City did in last season’s English Premier League.
3. Borussia Dortmund 12/1
Many people around the world favour Dortmund due to their exciting brand of football and ability to keep up with high-flying Bayern Munich. They last won the Bundesliga back in the 2010/11 season and will give everything to challenge for it this time round. Their key man is undoubtedly Gambian forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. His ability to run at defenders and score brilliant solo goals has helped his team keep up with Bayern. Mario Gotze is also enjoying his time back at the club after making the move back to the Westfalenstadion.
Manager Thomas Tuchel will want to keep up his team’s aggressive, attacking style of play with plenty of goals for their fans to enjoy. Dortmund have been blowing teams away in the UEFA Champions League but haven’t be as good in the Bundesliga so far. At these odds though it would make for a nice payout and they have the players to go on a great run.
4. Schalke 04 200/1
Schalke have made a mediocre start to this season’s campaign and nobody is expecting them to challenge for the Bundesliga title this season. It would come as a massive shock if they were to defy the odds and go all the way. They do have some highly talented individuals in their squad though and will be hoping that at the very least they can finish in the top four.
Two players that they have taken on loan for the season, Navil Bentaleb from Tottenham, and Yevhen Konoplyanka from Sevilla, are top players and will definitely give the rest of the squad and their supporters a lift. Anything can happen in football but Schalke just don’t have the mighty squad that the likes of Bayern and Dortmund have to compete all season long.
5. Borussia Monchengladbach 250/1
They finished fourth in last season’s campaign and will do well to better that finish this time round. Under the management of Andre Schubert, they have to give everything if they are to compete with Bayern, Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
They are unable though to compete for big signings with the other top German clubs and have to rely on every player working extra hard. They may finish in the top four once again this season but it’s hard seeing them challenging in the race for Bundesliga glory.
Inter are well off the pace and despite Mauro Icardi firing in the goals, they haven’t been very sound in defence. Perhaps next season we will see a stronger Inter side but for now their chances of winning the league this season are slim.
Last 10 Bundesliga Winners
It’s plain to see from the results below who the dominant force in Bundesliga football is. Bayern Munich has won the title for the last four seasons but the race is hotter this year with Leipzig hot on their trail, perhaps Red Bull does give you wings after all.
